Job Title: IT Support Officer

Information about the role:
This role supports day-to-day IT operations and basic security monitoring within the office. The main focus is managing IT assets, providing technical support, and assisting in early-stage security and network monitoring.
Key Responsibility

IT Asset & Infrastructure Management

      • Maintain detailed records of IT assets (PCs, laptops, networking devices, peripherals) including inventory, condition status, and usage tracking.
      • Regularly inspect and maintain office IT equipment to ensure operational readiness and determine if items need repair or replacement.
      • Coordinate and supervise setup and installation of devices, software, and network equipment.

IT Support & Troubleshooting

      • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to intermediate issues related to internet connectivity (e.g., Wi-Fi disruptions, bandwidth issues), local network configuration, and end-user devices.
      • Provide OS-level support across macOS, Windows, and Linux environments, including system configuration, driver management, and basic command-line usage.
      • Assist in printer setup, email configuration, and software installation in accordance with company policies.

Procurement & Vendor Coordination

      • Handle procurement of IT and office equipment, ensuring all software/hardware complies with licensing and security standards.
      • Liaise with third-party vendors for service and maintenance of IT assets.

Security Knowledge & Monitoring

      • Identify and verify software legitimacy (distinguish between licensed and pirated software), install applications securely, and configure settings according to best practices.
      • Install, configure, and maintain antivirus and endpoint protection solutions, including scanning, updating virus definitions, and responding to detected threats.
      • Perform basic monitoring and first-level analysis of security event alerts (e.g., antivirus logs, firewall triggers, suspicious application behavior).
      • Monitor and assess internet traffic flow to detect unusual activity or bandwidth abuse.
      • Ensure secure handling and disposal of devices containing sensitive information, including reformatting or decommissioning protocols.

Reporting & Compliance

      • Prepare reports on IT asset usage, repair status, purchases, and basic incident handling.
      • Support internal audits by maintaining up-to-date documentation of asset logs, security practices, and inventory records.

Requirements:

  • Min. 2–3 years of experience in IT Support or related roles.
  • Familiar with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Able to troubleshoot hardware, software, and internet/network issues.
  • Experience in managing IT assets: inventory, condition, and lifecycle.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity (e.g., antivirus, secure software setup, detecting pirated apps).
  • Able to monitor internet traffic and analyze basic security alerts/logs.
  • Knowledge of secure data handling and proper disposal of IT equipment.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills (asset tracking, purchases, incidents).
  • Comfortable coordinating with vendors and supervising basic installations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • IT certifications is a plus (CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.)
  • Experience with IT asset or ticketing systems
